With independent R&D and manufacturing of XCMG, the largest 4000-ton level crawler crane of the world has created a world record by successfully accomplishing the 4500-ton overload test for multiple times. 
    It was a sunny day with a clear and boundless sky on 29th November when XCMG’s gigantic 4000-ton crawler crane stood proudly on the large tonnage debugging site. Further to the successful hoisting of 2500-ton load test blocks by XCMG’s XGC88000 with 96 metres main arm on 6th November, the crane was meeting the challenge of lifting 4500-ton test blocks. With the order of the commander, the crawler elevated the 4500-ton test blocks stably with its 60 metres main arm. Remaining for 20 minutes in the air, it precisely put the blocks in the designated place. The crawler crane’s fabulous performance won the audience’s warm applauds. This success set a new record in hoisting capability of the global mobile cranes. 
    “What is 4500 tons equivalent to? Suppose that the weight of a loaded truck is 10 tons, hoisting 4500 tons means elevating 450 loaded trucks. ” said Sun Li, director of XCMG Construction Machinery Crawler Crane Research Institute. “The superb hoisting capability is attributed to the advanced structure and layout of the crane.” 
    In terms of the design of the 4000-ton level crawler crane, XCMG broke the traditional concept of design and made innovations by adopting the structure and layout of front and back tracked vehicle with big span + 8-chord compound arm frame + combined rotator device. The frond and back tracked vehicle with big span guarantees the large moment of the complete vehicle; compound arm frame substantially enhances the loaded weight, safety and reliability; combine rotator device ensures the heavy load as well as a safe and reliable 360° rotation. So far, this structure and layout has applied for more than 10 national patents. The superb lifting moment will help improve and optimize the manufacturing technology in different aspects, greatly shorten the construction cycle of the state nuclear power and some other large-scale projects, improve productivity and save labor.
